Napolitano for DHS Secretary?

Posted by Jake in Uncategorized |

Mind boggling! Simply mind boggling!

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D), whose handling of immigration issues brought her accolades from fellow governors, is President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to serve as secretary of homeland security, Democratic sources said late Wednesday.

Napolitano, 50, was an early supporter of Obama and was the only elected official tapped to serve on his transition team. She was reelected in 2006 to a second term as governor of Arizona, the home state of Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in the race against Obama. Napolitano previously served as U.S. attorney and state attorney general for Arizona; she was the first woman in both of those posts.

Napolitano’s selection was made pending vetting, sources said, and was first reported by CNN.

Michelle Horse Crazy dvd calls her a “Shamnesty wolf in enforcement clothing”

Digger notes some of her less than stellar history…Here

Bill Quick asks

: Well, I certainly feel more secure in the homeland now, don’t you?

My .02? I don’t think she’s as smart as The O hopes she is, and she’s going to make Chertoff look like freakin’ Einstein.

I am conflicted on this one.

On the one hand I don’t have to put up with her as the governor of our state and we will get a true conservative in her place (Jan Brewer)

On the other hand, she hasn’t done crap to secure the border here in Arizona, so putting her in charge of both borders is scary.

I agree with Jake. She’s a mental midget but she can’t do a worse job than Chertoff. She may not put on the sham raids at companies that employ illegal immigrants but that’s PR, not substance.

LIAMD: I’m with ya, I think this is a boon to AZ, and as you guys are on the frontlines that can only be a good thing.

Frank: That’s a tough call, even though I completely agree that those raids have been PR stunts they have also been incredibly effective because of how our opponents have characterized them in the illegal community.

But I think that having Napolitano in this position is going to give us something to fight back against, and that’s a good thing!
