Hoyt Challenges Pulido's Petition Signatures

Today the 5th District Congressional candidacy petitions of Rosanna Pulido, founder of the Illinois Minutemen Project, were challenged before the Illinois State Board of Elections. Her petitions were challenged in his personal capacity by Josh Hoyt, a voter in the 5th Congressional District and the Director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
That’s right, director Serial Mom movie download
of the taxpayer-funded illegal immigrant cheerleader squad a.k.a. ICIRR. And, given his support for all kinds of good stuff for illegal aliens — up to and most certainly including amnesty — I find it rather ironic that he’s developed a passionate, albeit extremely selective, respect for the rule of law:
“We are a nation of laws,” stated Mr. Hoyt, “and certainly our election processes should be a place where the rules are respected…Our election laws are the law of the land, and we certainly would not want a candidate on the ballot who submits invalid signatures and notarizations.”
I agree wholeheartedly…if we were playing poker I’d see your respect for election law and raise you by a big dose of respect for our immigration law as well!
Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals has been referenced a lot in the past week, largely with regards to the whole Obama-Limbaugh thing.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
Want to see rule #13 in action? Read Hoyt’s press release in its entirety. It’s a textbook case of rule #13, with emphasis on the “personalize” and “polarize.” I give you Exhibit A:
Ms. Pulido is an infamously intemperate opponent of illegal immigration, gays, and the Catholic Church.

Mr. Hoyt further commented, “For years Ms. Pulido has poisoned the immigration debate with her vitriol, preventing rational debate on reasonable solutions for our broken immigration system. Now it is clear that her demagoguery was only to build a platform for her political ambitions. That is our experience with the loudest voices on the anti-immigrant side of this debate – they are either bitter personal failures or else cynical bullies abusing immigrants in order to forward their own crass personal ambitions. Sometimes they are both.”
“If Ms. Pulido’s has not followed the rules and does not have enough valid signatures to be on the ballot, then the 5th CD will be mercifully spared from her hateful rants in pursuit of her own political ambitions.”
The challenge to Pulido’s signatures will be what it will be. But if that’s really all Hoyt’s challenge was about, shouldn’t that have been what his press release was all about too? Shouldn’t it have been enough to report the challenge and describe the specifics? Why the need to personally attack her with patently false name-calling like “anti-immigrant” and “hateful,” not to mention accusations such as the claim that Pulido wants the congressional seat solely “in pursuit of her own political ambitions” — something Hoyt couldn’t possibly know unless he lives inside her head?
Personalize and polarize. It’s right out of the lefty handbook, folks.
Another set of rules Hoyt selectively seems to hold in high esteem.
