The Actual Chicago Chicago Tea Party!

****UPDATE*** Video added below!

We had the pleasure of attending today’s Chicago Tea Party rally in Daley Plaza. With the usual caveat that I am the worst estimator of crowd size I would call today’s shindig in the 300 range, not bad at all for a freezing Friday late morning here in the windy and frigid city.

The crowd was well behaved but rowdy and, as the video and pix will show, so without further ado here are some pictures from today’s event to be followed by video whenever I get done brewing it up for ya…

I Love You, Man movie full

8 Mile release

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy trailer Zoolander

Ghost Game ipod

I’m going to cut off here, that should be enough to shut you up, for a moment anyway. MJ’s grabbing a nap and I’ll ask her to maybe throw up another picture post when she shags her ass out of bed. Video to follow shortly!

And here’s the much anticipated video…(it may still be processing so if it doesn’t work right away just be patient and it will work eventually)

The organizer estimate was 400, so you were almost on the money - but who ever really knows?

Good job. My heart was with you all!

    Mr. Blue Collar Republican,

I was there and the crowd was over 500 at the max.

The problem for conservatives is that they work — one son came over on his lunch hour. My other son is an architect with a project deadline and he would have loved to have been able to be there.

Most of the people there were on their day off, the self-employed, mothers with young children, retirees, etc.

Also, conservatives hate demonstrations after suffering through the anti-war and “student” demos for decades. We don’t like to copy the freak crowd.

The Silent Majority (Minority?) can no longer afford to be silent, so we are going to have to adopt and improve on the tactics of the Left if we want to save our country.

Wasn’t it great to see the homemade and very clever signs instead of the Communist and union placards mass produced for the moron crowd to carry when they were undermining the Bush administration and our very country?

    Jake,
Your video is awesome! This needs national exposure. Wow, great footage, great interviews, great editing. Awesome! We’re posting on Illinois Review to help spread the word.

BTW, had no idea you were marching right behind me …I’m the bouncing black hat in front of the camera. Next time I hope to shake your hand. You’ve done a terrific job!

I’m from Pittsburgh and just found out about the tea parties brewing acrosss America yesterday when listening to talk radio at work. It is a shame that more people couldn’t have attended, but as one commented, it is difficult to stage a revolt when a lot of the activists are working and paying their own bills (and a few others’ as well!!!) Saturday events should be planned so that more people can attend, although I think demonstrations throughout the workweek, during rush hours and lunch hours, to maximize exposure, are still advantageous. Continuous pressure and more demonstrations can only serve to spread the word and encourage others to join the ranks. In addition, the number of events and gradual swells of attendees would force the MSM to start covering them.

I disagree that we should restrict ourselves so that we don’t end up “causing problems” like the protesters of the 60s. Rather we should take a page from their book. They were exercising their Constitutional rights just as we are doing now and there is no reason why we should refrain from using as many legal routes as possible to make our voices heard. We should all study their tactics and start reading and learning from such civil rights advocates as Thoreau (”On Civil Disobedience”), Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr. By aligning ourselves with such great historical fighters for what is right and just, we can make our voices more credible to the government movers and shakers (from the President and Congress to “limosine liberals” and the MSM) who have espoused their own version of “We the People”. How can we be discounted and marginalized when we are only fighting to bring about REAL change by following in the steps of those who have fought to assert our rights against an unresponsive and tyrannical government?

Had to add this to my blog for the weekend. Good to see a bunch of right minded people getting together to show the moonbats that we who DO pay our bills, our mortgages, and fear for our childrens’ future will not be silent. Thank you for posting this.

    Lynn,

My understanding is that the Pittsburgh event was rescheduled for April due to rain. So, you should definitely look to attend then.

    Jake-
You have great video here. Are you familiar with Rick Moran? He has a blog called Right Wing Nut House. Guy needs to be taken to the woodshed, or the cement sidewalk for mocking what we did. You should google it and read what he wrote. I call him another idiot chest puffer liberal who sits and waits for all the hard work to be done and then wants the credit. He pissed me off.
Anyway, look forward to seeing you April 15th.

So…the fact that every aspect of this phony “grassroots” event got called out and revealed as nothing more than a well-planned PR stunt funded by big money doesn’t bother anyone?
