Smugglers Hold 53 Illegals While Waiting for Ransom

Posted by Rhonda

As has been pointed out many times before, kidnapping had just about been eradicated in this country until these folks showed up.

PHOENIX (AP) - Fifty-three illegal immigrants found Sunday had been held against their will in a fortified home by suspected smugglers demanding more money, authorities said.
The group of rescued immigrants included two 13-year-old girls, three women and a mentally disabled man. The rest were men, Department of Public Safety spokesman Harold Sanders said.

Authorities began investigating Saturday after getting a tip that immigrants were being held captive. Sanders said the smugglers wanted an average of $2,500 for each person’s release.

The single-family home where they were kept had been fortified to prevent escape and weapons were seized at the location. The suspected smugglers also took away the immigrants’ shoes so they couldn’t run off.

Sanders said five people, all residents of Mexico, were being jailed on charges of extortion, kidnapping, aggravated assault and human smuggling.

Now, what, I ask you, makes smugglers think that these poor, destitute folks all had an average of 2500 dollars to bring them into this country - much less extra, on the side, running around money? Unless these illegals being brought in aren’t exactly who they are portrayed to be. Sure, a few have “sponsorship”, either from relatives or friends in the States, but most likely there’s some kind of criminal element that is in cahoots with these smugglers (drug gangs, sweat shop owners) to bring them in - hence the demand for more money, because they know that these people have it.

Sympathetic Media Strikes Up Band for Open Borders

Posted by Rhonda

It’s hard to hear with all these violins playing, I tells ya!

You can walk to the U.S. border, Francelia Menchaca’s immigration lawyer advised her, but don’t put your fingers through its fence. It may hinder her immigration paperwork, the lawyer said.

But when, after a year apart, Menchaca’s mother arrived in her flowered straw hat to the border in Tijuana on Saturday and put her small, wrinkled hands up to the cast-iron gate, Menchaca reached out and touched them.

“Were you anxious to touch my hand?” Menchaca asked in Spanish. Tears stood on her lashes.

“Yes,” said her mother, Francisca Rodriguez, a resident of Tijuana, as her three grandchildren, including a 10-month-old girl she had never seen, strained to be near her.

The Menchacas, who drove from Phoenix, are among those who gather here annually on Mexico’s Mother’s Day along the kinder portion of an otherwise unforgiving border that separates the United States and Mexico.

For nearly 2,000 miles, the boundary rolls from the tip of Texas westward through the foot of California. But in Tijuana, just before the line juts out and sinks into the Pacific Ocean, it eases into a rusty, weather-beaten fence.

Flanked by the U.S. Border Field Park on one side and Playa de Tijuana on the other, the 10-foot-high fence offers a modest opening here and there, just wide enough to slip a hand or a homemade taco through.

I think I just tossed my tacos. Yeesh. An “unforgiving border” that somehow allows hundreds of thousands through a year unfettered. My cow, this isn’t journalism. It’s a Barbara Cartland novel. It’s not like the friggin’ Berlin Wall. Anyone can get a visitors’ pass to come across the border, all you need to do is do something remarkable - like get permission?

More of this, Please!

Posted by Rhonda

Sometimes in the business of attempting to state the obvious wrongs, you get a little tired of repeating yourself. But this is news that I never tire of reporting.

Postville, Ia. – At least 300 people were arrested today at the Agriprocessors, Inc. meat packing plant, federal officials said.

The operation, which targeted people who illegally used other persons Social Security numbers and were in the U.S. illegally, was the largest of its kind in Iowa, said Claude Arnold, a special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to an affidavit, “Based on information thus far developed in the investigation, it appears, based on 2007 fourth quarter payroll reports, that approximately 76 percent of the 968 employees of Agriprocessors were using false or fraudulent social security numbers in connection with their employment.”

The workers arrested so far were interviewed by agents with the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Public Health Service. Public health officials were included to ensure that their humanitarian needs were being met, said U.S. District Attorney Matt M. Dummermuth.

Authorities have released 40 of the arrested employees “on humanitarian grounds” with supervision, pending further proceedings, Dummermuth said.

Yeah. You know those “humanitarian grounds”? Whenever I hear that bit about “separating families”, I always come back to former Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean, who have been ripped from their families as well. So please don’t give me that humanitarian nonsense. Chilluns belong with their parents…but on THAT side of the border. And hopefully, by going through something shocking like being deported, that will teach little Juan and Juanita that breaking the law has consequences. Who knew?

According to search warrants, ICE agents interviewed a former plant supervisor – identified as “Source 1” – in November 2007, who told them that the plant employed foreign nationals from Mexico, Guatemala and Eastern Europe. Roughly 80 percent of those workers were living illegally in the U.S., the supervisor said.

“Source 1” told federal agents that some employees were running a methamphetamine lab in the plant, and were bringing weapons to work. The supervisor confronted a higher-level manager about the drugs, and shortly after was fired.

So, just hard workers eh? Mmkay. Just racist raids, eh? Last I looked, there weren’t too many brown peeps in Uzbekistan.

The supervisors also described an encounter with the plant’s human resources manager about three separate Social Security cards from different employees with the same number. The human resources manager “laughed when this matter was brought to her attention,” the supervisor told federal agents.

In February 2008, a confidential informant identified as “Source 7,” who has worked with federal agents in past immigration cases, detailed several incidents of alleged worker abuse at the plant.

The source, who was lawfully employed at the plant, told authorities that a floor supervisor duct-taped the eyes of an illegal Guatemalan employee and struck him with a meat hook. The blow caused no serious injuries.

“Source 7″ asked the Guatemalan to report the incident, but the employee said doing so could jeopardize his job.

In another alleged incident, Source 7 said, a floor supervisor identified as a Hasidic Jew pushed another illegal employee because he did not like the way the employee was moving meat.

A plant employee identified as “Source 11” told authorities that he/she was hired without presenting employment documents or filling out any forms. The worker’s first paycheck had a different person’s name on it, which was then cashed at another part of the plant.

Undocumented workers were paid $5 an hour for their first three or four months on the job, the employee said, and then received a salary increase to $6 per hour.

If this is how we get our “cheaper” groceries, I don’t want any part of it. I don’t want any part in Chinese organ donation sites/sweat shops. I don’t want any part in human smuggling rings. You want humanitarian? You want love and fellowship and diversity? Then this isn’t how it should be done. You see, following the law is for the betterment of society on both sides of the equation. Otherwise, you end up with chaos.

Just like the global warming “scientists” who keep declaring that the debate on climate change is over, I declare that the illegal immigrant debate is over. We want our country back from the criminal elements - both illegals and the big business who support them. Just say “no mas”.

100% Preventable! The Deportation Joke!

Posted by Jake

You decide

Illegal Alien Arrested On Forcible Rape Charges in Bossier Parish

An illegal allien was arrested by Bossier Parish deputies Thursday on charges of forcible rape. Villalt Carlos Canales is accused of attempting to force his cleaning lady to have sex with him. She was able to run away and call authorities. Police tracked him down early Thursday morning and arrested him. Canales has been deported at least twice since 1999. Police say he has a criminal history of aggravated assault, battery with a dangerous weapon and simple battery.

Wait, illegal aliens have cleaning ladies? What’s wrong with this picture?

And you know what’s weird? It’s almost as if deporting hardened criminals makes absolutely no difference, as if we have no ability whatsoever to stop or deter criminals from entering this country, weird no? /S

Least Surprising News Of The Day!

Posted by Jake

Yep, this qualifies

A former union representative who helped illegal workers get jobs at a Swift & Co. meatpacking plant in Marshalltown was found guilty of federal immigration charges today.

A jury found Braulio Pereyra-Gabino guilty of harboring illegal immigrants but acquitted him on other charges that included false use of a Social Security number and aggravated identity theft.

…Pereyra-Gabino was working as vice president of Local 1149 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union when he was arrested by federal immigration officials in July 2007.

Prosecutors contend that he told undocumented workers how to escape detection and protect their fake identities used to get jobs at the Marshalltown plant.

Remember: illegal immigration is every bit as natural as a well planned — well funded tsunami!

Brought To You By The Good Folks @ Amnesty inc!

Posted by Jake

So, whenever our bettahs get around to ramming that amnesty down our throats, you know, the one they’ve been salivating over for the last several years? Yeah that one, remember, it will be folks like these that allowed the problem to get this bad who will be inspecting each “overly-fake-documented” illegal alien for citizenship in this country….

ICE: 38,000 known criminal illegal immigrants living in Houston

Several teams of federal agents from here and across the country are hitting the streets of Houston searching for fugitive illegal immigrants. The hunt in Houston began a few hours before sunrise on Tuesday. Half an hour into their operation, Immigration Customs Enforcement agents catch a bad guy. ICE officers say the man they arrested had committed several violent crimes and assaulted his former wife… ICE officers say there are an estimated 38,000 known illegal immigrants with criminal histories in Houston.

Feel comforted yet?

A ‘Small Noisy Minority?’

Posted by Jake

Sure Gomer, sure

Anti illegal-immigration hardliners leading in Irving and Farmers Branch elections

Supporters of crackdowns against illegal immigration in Irving and Farmers Branch are leading in their races for political office. Farmers Branch City Councilman Tim O’Hare, 38, the champion of an effort to ban illegal immigrants from renting apartments in his city, is leading the mayoral race with 68 percent of the vote with five of 19 precincts reporting. His opponent, Gene Bledsoe, has 32 percent of the vote. Bledsoe said the city is spending too much money legally defending a rental ban doomed to be struck down in the courts. Irving Mayor Herbert Gears, 45, whose reelection campaign included support for the city’s Criminal Alien Program, is leading with 53 percent percent of the early vote. CAP refers suspected illegal immigrants in the city’s jail to federal immigration officials and has resulted in the deportation of more than 2,700 people since it started in September 2006.

Man, for an issue “no one cares about,” it sure do seem to do pretty well at the ballot box, no?

Importing Mayhem!

Posted by Jake

This crap stops the day our feckless gubmint takes border security as seriously as they do their parking privileges

7 arrested in burned-body case

When the body of a man set on fire was discovered earlier this week, Phoenix police not only got a case of whodunit. They also got to scratch off one of the suspects they were investigating as a high-level boss in a human-smuggling ring. On Thursday night, police made a bust in the killing, arresting seven people and rescuing a second man who was kidnapped alongside the homicide victim. Authorities say the case illustrates the continuing violence of human-smuggling groups operating in the Valley, where brutality plays out between rival organizations and today’s victim is tomorrow’s suspect.

When Incredibly Stupid People…

Posted by Jake

Write! What is it called again when you ask people to surrender to a hostile force that has entered your country against your will? Gosh, it’ll come to me, while your waiting here are a couple of tastes from Bill Stuntz remarkably retarded effort entitled ‘The Inconvenient Truths of 2008′

Each party’s base has two inconvenient truths it doesn’t want to hear. For Republicans, those truths concern immigration and the culture war. Most of today’s illegal immigrant population is here to stay (along with their descendants) and will pay no significant price for getting here outside the legal channels. No presidential candidate can change those facts. *snip*

If Republicans fail to understand their unpleasant truths, they will lose in November, and lose badly. *snip*

The Republican base wants the country to reacquire control over its southern border, and wants to see the millions of illegal immigrants already here expelled or punished–because anything less rewards them for their violations. The first goal is both good policy and good politics. The second is a practical impossibility and a political disaster. No American government can afford to track down and expel, fine, or otherwise penalize 12 million of its residents: 17 times the number of convicted felons who enter prison each year (and today’s imprisonment rate has shattered historical records). That much law enforcement is beyond government’s capacity–a fact for which conservatives, of all people, should be thankful.

Not only will the illegals themselves remain, so will generations of their offspring: a large voting bloc that will be forever barred to the party that wanted to ship their parents and grandparents back to their Central American homes. If the penalties for illegally crossing the border are more than a pittance, immigrants will simply refuse to pay them and remain underground, and no future government will spend the money needed to catch and prosecute them. Given those circumstances, amnesty is less a policy choice than a statement of political reality: the rough equivalent of bankruptcy for a debtor who, without it, will never pay another creditor another dime. To put the point differently, the size of America’s Latino population means that the nation’s border control problem must be solved with that population’s consent. As Donald Rumsfeld might put it, you do immigration reform with the immigrants you have.

…the crusade to enforce our current immigration laws against our current immigrant population was lost several million border crossings ago

Pithier version: quick, embrace surrender to an ethno-centric hostile group that has invaded your country or Republicans will lose elections!

You know where he really gets it wrong? And oddly it’s aIso the place I most agree with him, is the presumption that this is fixable by our utterly feckless gubmint. It isn’t, at least as our utterly feckless gubmint is currently constituted. This will require the smarts of the American people to be solved and whaddaya know, they are on the job all over the country!

I often picture our utterly feckless gubmint as a giant idiot machine with the power switch stuck in the ‘on’ position, and this is as good an example as any. Our utterly bereft of Feck gubmint loves the third world invasion, more clients, more voting blocks, more ethnic separation, more conflict, more problems for them to “solve,” more of everything an utterly feckless gubmint would love, especially one that is busily engaged in “electing a new people.”

I wanted to quote this from one of VFR’s readers

Recollect how in the heady days of immigration enthusiasm we were told that immigrants coming here were coming to be part of America, that even illegal immigrants and their offspring would be fashioned into Americans by our super-phenomenal economic engines of assimilation. Does anyone recall hearing at that time that once the numbers of illegals grew large enough, we would have to grant them amnesty and that the political parties would have to support amnesty for tens of millions of illegal immigrants or else run the risk of being devastated at the polls unto the third and fourth generations? Can anyone think of any reason we should ever again listen to a word out of the mouth of the immigration enthusiasts?

Oh, that word I kept forgetting above? Yeah, its coward!
