Davis Warns of a New Civil War With Southern States

Congressional candidate Jack Davis, in a speech earlier this year, warned that increasing immigration from Mexico could lead to a new civil war between northern states and Mexican-influenced Southern states that may want to secede from the United States.

“In the latter part of this century or the next, Mexicans will be a majority in many of the states and could therefore take control of the state government using the democratic process,” Davis said in the speech. “They could then secede from the United States, and then we might have another civil war.” *snip*

“They have an allegiance to Mexico, where they were taught the U.S. fought an unjust war with Mexico and took this territory,” Davis said. “They believe the territory of these states belongs to Mexico.”

Davis did not name specific states that might be prone to succession.

But he appeared to be referring to Texas—which seceded from Mexico, briefly became an independent republic and then joined the United States—and the territories Mexico lost as a result of the Mexican-American War of 1846-48. California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and much of Colorado were all once Mexican territory, only to become U. S. states after the war.

Asked this week about his speech, Davis said he no longer believed Southern states would be prone to leaving the union in order to assert Mexican control over what is now U.S. territory.

“I think they’ll do it without a civil war,” he said. “They’ll take control of the state governments and start voting themselves anything they want.”

Is he wrong?

Oddest Story Of The Day!

Mexican woman breaks ankles jumping border fence

Border Patrol officials say a Mexican woman has broken both ankles trying to cross a border fence in southern Arizona. Spokesman Rob Daniels says an agent patrolling east of the Douglas port of entry about 2 a.m. Tuesday noticed distinctive drag marks on the ground. He followed them away from the fence and heard a woman calling for help. The 35-year-old woman from Guanajato, Mexico, whom Daniels did not identify, told authorities she fell off the fence while trying to cross it.

Not to sound goofy but this is exactly why we need a fence. I’m not jumping up and down in joy because this lady broke her ankles but, it acts as a deterrent, that’s what a fence is, not a magic force field, a deterrent.

And as stories like these filter back into Mexico the fence will begin to actually do its job.

Jobs Americans Won’t Do?

Posted by Jake

Every single freakin’ time!

Applicants line up to fill jobs open after plant raid

LAUREL — Howard Industries found itself at the center of activity again Tuesday. Hundreds of job applicants lined up, eager to take advantage of the sudden job openings at the plant located in Jones County, where the unemployment rate is 6.3 percent. ICE agents on Monday seized 595 plant workers suspected of being in the country illegally. Several workers, who did not identify themselves, said Tuesday they were working and trying to keep the plant operational in the wake of the sudden loss of co-workers. They said it was common knowledge many of their co-workers were suspected to be illegal.

This has happened every single time a plant was raided, I hope our opponents feel shame as they continue to tell the lie that these are jobs Americans won’t do.

I just can’t repeat myself any more. It starts to become cliched.

Okay, I’ll repeat myself! You knew the risks! No one made this heifer climb the fence.

Ten bucks says that this woman sues and gets a hefty settlement that she’ll end up spending in Mexico. Let’s just save some time and start sending all our money down there.

Waitaminit! I thought we…

Posted by Rhonda

…decided that we were really going to start enforcing laws?

A San Francisco court set aside a drug-trafficking case Monday against a 14-year-old Honduran immigrant - a ruling that juvenile justice officials fear will undermine Mayor Gavin Newsom’s new policy requiring that such offenders be held for possible deportation.

Juvenile Court Commissioner Abby Abinanti concluded that the youth, identified only as Francisco G. because of his age, should be treated within the social welfare system, not as a criminal offender. If federal authorities don’t intervene, the ruling would almost certainly allow him to remain in this country.

Abinanti issued her ruling after a social services official and a city attorney’s representative on an advisory panel reviewed the youth’s history and concluded that he should be considered a victim and thus be entitled to receive social welfare services.

Prosecutors and a third member of the panel, a Juvenile Probation Department representative, objected, citing the youth’s immigration status. In the end, Abinanti ordered that the youth be turned over immediately to social workers for possible placement in a group home, according to authorities who spoke on condition of anonymity because juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.

Abinanti, through a court spokeswoman, declined to comment.

Federal officials assert that placing young felons in group homes amounts to a violation of U.S. law prohibiting the aiding and abetting of illegal immigrants. They suspect that declaring drug dealers to be innocent victims is an end run around the requirement that such immigrants be handed over for possible deportation.

Monday’s ruling fueled such criticism.

“I am concerned that there are people who are still attempting to find strategems to avoid compliance with federal law,” said Joseph Russoniello, the U.S. attorney for Northern California, who faulted San Francisco’s past practice of shielding juvenile offenders from deportation.

The kid’s story is heart-breaking, truly.

But all of these stories are, and we’re not responsible for the actions of a few selfish people - or herd of people.

As for this ruling, I pray to God - and I hope it’s soon - that the day will come when judges like these are rousted out of their beds and put on trial their own selves. What a precedent to set by actually proclaiming a criminal as a victim. The prisons are full of “victims”. Perhaps all the residents should be remanded to serve the remainder of their sentence at the Honorable Judge Abinanti’s house.

More of This!

Posted by Rhonda

If smugglers were charged and convicted more often of the death penalty, then we probably wouldn’t be in the pickle brine now.

A Mexican man who had been accused of transporting illegal immigrants after a rollover crash killed nine people faces new charges that could bring the death penalty.

A federal grand jury in Phoenix indicted Brian Guzman Ochoa, 32, on four new counts Tuesday including transportation of illegal immigrants resulting in death.

The possible sentences on that charge are the death penalty or life in prison.

Source: Houston Chronicle.

New developments are expected today in the criminal investigation into allegations of immigration violations by Shipley Do-Nuts and its management, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided Shipley Do-Nuts, a family-owned chain, on April 16 and detained 20 suspected illegal immigrants employed at the facility on North Main Street.

At the time it was the biggest immigration raid in over a year in the Houston area.

Update as soon as details become available.

We’ve been Warned!

Posted by Rhonda

I posted this and this not long ago, and…well, let’s just say that the warnings were accurate.

A showdown over drug money between suspected Mexican illegal aliens in Alabama ended with four men in prison and four shipped back to Mexico in body bags.

Three suspected illegal aliens from Mexico and another man have been arrested and charged with capital murder for electrocuting, stabbing, suffocating and beating five men to death in a murder-for-hire.

The four suspects were paid between $400,000 and $450,000 to torture the victims with electric shock and slit their throats in an Alabama apartment, police said Tuesday. The murders have been tied to a drug cartel that transports cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, the Birmingham News reported.

Shelby County Sheriff Chris Curry said he believed the murders could have been revenge slayings after the victims embezzled money from a drug cartel.

“It revolves around money, and that money revolves around drugs,” he said.

Curry said there might have been other targets on the hit list who escaped before police arrived.

Authorities found the bodies of Angel Horacio Vega-Gonzalez, 23, and his brother Gustavo Vega-Gonzalez, also known as Armando Lopez, 24; Ezequiel Rebollar-Terevan, 23; Jaime Echeverria, 30; and a fifth unknown victim Wednesday.

The coroner’s office is waiting for dental records before the fifth victim can be identified. The other four victims’ bodies have been shipped back to their families in Mexico.

Suspects Alejandros Castaneda, 31, and Juan Francisco Castaneda, 25, brothers; Rodriguez Jaime Duenas, 22; and Christopher Scott Jones, 40 are being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.

So much for “heightened alert”, eh?

One Step Forward…

Posted by Jake

Two steps back….

From James Johnson, President-NC FIRE

Right now we are focusing our attention on our N.C. Congressmen and Representatives about the possible illegality of the Mexican Consulate handing out passports, Matricular Consular cards and registering people to vote, in community colleges, churches and small towns around NC. This really is just a way to “document”, “undocumented immigrants” and amounts to back door amnesty. It gives people who are here illegally official and immediate documentation of their “legality,” with no penalty for coming into this country illegally to begin with.

1. They jump ahead of the people waiting to enter this country legally.
2. They don’t go through the normal health screenings for communicable diseases that people applying for citizenship do.
3. They are not being required to learn English.
4. They can immediately apply for NC drivers’ licenses, all social service welfare programs, open bank accounts, etc…without ever putting one cent into the system through payroll taxes.
5. They are able to vote, thereby possibly swaying elections.
6. All of this and more, simply by being in this country illegally.

They are basically becoming “citizens” without any of the requirements to do so.

These events are being “billed” as “Cultural Festivals” and are being organized by the Mexican Consulate Headquarters in Raleigh, in conjunction with the NC Community College System, under a program called “The Hispanic/Latino Initiative”.

I would call this an open revolt by government, what do you call it?

My question is simply this: how many San Frans, Virginia Beaches, Phoenix’s will it take before even the most retarded pol figures out that this isn’t a great idea?

Do the Right Thing, Then!

Posted by Rhonda

You know that old stupid adage about “if you have nothing to hide, then there isn’t any reason to fear” (usually following concern about some kind of new law enforcement anal probe plan at the airport or wherever)? Well, the same adage should apply to those who whine about immigration raids.

Immigration agents had barely left Postville when word hit Perry, about 200 miles to the southwest, that another raid was coming.

The rumor, which turned out to be false, spread like prairie fire through this central Iowa city’s Hispanic community, reflecting a new reality for many small towns that can’t be shaken.

In places like Perry, where Hispanics now make up at least a quarter of the population, residents are left wondering, “Are we next?”

“We are more vulnerable now,” asked Angelica Cardenas, 28, who works in Perry’s school system. “There is always fear of something like this, but with these raids, we know now it’s real.”

The government’s shift to high-profile immigration raids — 389 people were arrested at Postville’s Agriprocessors Inc. on May 12, and 595 were rounded up at Howard Industries Inc. of Laurel, Miss., on Monday — has instilled fear in towns across the country.

“These raids have really highlighted the difficulties towns face in this situation,” said Ana-Maria Garcia Wahl, an associate professor of sociology at Wake Forest University who studies immigration issues in the Midwest and South. “I’m not sure all of these towns have an ability to cope and provide the crisis intervention.”

In the name of Jeebus and all that is holy, when in the hell did it become necessary to call enforcing the law a “crisis”? Ay, cheen-gow.

On the flip side, The Raids have made industry more wary and determined to at least play the part of good citizens.

For their part, Tyson officials say they are confident their workers are in the country legally.

Applicants must go through a federally backed immigration verification system, Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said. The company’s starting wages range from $10 to $13.65 an hour, with benefits such as health insurance and paid vacations and holidays.

“We have zero tolerance for employing people who are not authorized to work in the U.S. and use all available tools provided by the U.S. government to verify the documents of the people we hire,” Mickelson said.

He said audits at Tyson facilities are conducted regularly, including some by an outside company.

Not bad, but didn’t those jobs used to pay about 20 an hour? Gee, wonder what happened there.

School Superintendent Randy J. McCaulley said the school system has an emergency plan in place for an immigration raid, just as it does for other possible calamities, such as a tornado, fire or intruder.

Parents have received a note seeking clarification of their emergency contact information and reassuring them that students will be kept safe in the event of raid.

Still, fear lingers among Perry’s Hispanic community.

“You can see that people are more scared in general,” said Rosa Gonzalez of the advocacy group Hispanics United for Perry. “Some of them, they don’t even tell you directly but people don’t go outside like they used to and things like that.”

Wendy Goodale, director of Perry’s Chamber of Commerce, said Hispanics have helped revive the community, giving local businesses a boost while many rural areas have struggled through tough economic times.

You know, I’ve struck upon an idea for Halloween. I’m just going to run up and down the street dressed in an INS costume and yell “la migra” all night. Loads of fun!

In Which I Stump For The Obamination!

Posted by Jake

Heh! Well, I join with Mickey Kaus and agree with his analysis….

Davis said that although immigration wasn’t a major area of dispute between McCain and Obama, it was “the most toxic issue” in the South, with “as many African Americans” as whites intensely concerned. He predicted it would be a huge issue in the 2009-2010 midterm election, at least if Obama wins. Why? Because the out of power GOP leadership will come to the strategic decision that the way to effectively discredit the Democrats is to unify in opposition to “comprehensive” reform (i.e., including semi-amnesty).

Right. That’s why I’ll be happy if Obama wins. Or, rather, why opponents of “comprehensive reform” should support Obama, even if on paper he’s even more of a comprehensivist than McCain. Davis did not seem eager to hand unified Republicans an issue by voting on amnesty in Obama’s first two years–a sentiment I suspect is widely shared among moderate Dems.

In my not terribly humble opinion the very best outcome of this election, on this issue, would be an Obama win for president and a Republican pick up of seats in the Senate and Congress.

And let me extrapolate this idea out a little bit, what is it we fear with Obama exactly? How has he shown himself to be terribly effective? What has he done other than sell his mug?

The harsh truth is that in a Democracy every so often you have to allow a Carter in to remind people why its a bad thing to elect an anti-American blowhard who sees the world almost exactly backwards. Will there be bad things about electing an Obama, um, hell yes! But I honestly believe there will be truly good things on the other side of electing Senor Blowhard.

If you want to see the Republican Party stop sucking then I ask you to consider radical notion that the best way for that to happen would be the election of the Obamination!

What say you?

Number of Hispanics in Schools Double

Posted by Rhonda

Is that all?

The number of Hispanic students in the nation’s public schools is increasing rapidly, and nearly one-fifth have difficulty speaking English, a new study found.

The number of Latino students nearly doubled from 5 million in 1990 to about 9.8 million in 2006, said the report by the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group in Washington.

As a result, 20 percent of the nation’s public school children are now Hispanic, the report said.

About 70 percent of the Latino students speak a language other than English at home, and 18 percent speak English with difficulty, the study said.

An increasing number of Hispanic students are bilingual — speaking English and Spanish proficiently.

I said it on my radio show a year ago: Hispanics are not the issue at all. Three-quarters of the kids that I went to high school with were Hispanic. But - and this, my friends, is a huge but - they were all 3rd, 4th, 5th generation, whose parents were oftentimes making more money than mine were (certainly they were able to afford better clothes).

These days, it’s the opposite. More burden on the tax base, creating downward pressure on an already fairly large pressure cooker that makes up the school districts. Combine that with ever-increasing costs in energy and everything else, and you get the makings of a real, honest-to-goodness sit-chee-a-shun.

Obama the Omniscient is sure to clear that problem right up starting with his anointing tonight, I’m quite certain.

Border Patrol Struggles to Hang on to Recruits

Posted by Rhonda

Yet another good argument for the military on the border.

Law enforcement officers wanted: must work graveyard shifts alone in remote towns along the Mexican border, put in long hours and perform well in triple-digit temperatures.

That message is never touted in U.S. Border Patrol recruitment brochures, but the sobering reality of working on the border has created an environment in which about 30 percent of agents leave their jobs in less than 18 months.

“This has complications up and down the line,” said Richard Stana, director of homeland security issues at the Government Accountability Office. “You’re constantly in a recruiting mode … If this population keeps churning, you’re constantly training.”

The Border Patrol’s struggle to keep new hires has become more evident as the agency comes close to meeting President Bush’s target of 18,000 agents by the end of the year, up from 12,000 two years ago and double the number from eight years ago. The hiring surge means 42 percent of agents have less than three years on the job.

The article lists a lot of factors that may prohibit them from keeping a lot of new hires - among them having to live far away from home (hence the name “Border” Patrol) - but it doesn’t seem to bother their nemesis across the way when they come over here scurrying for jobs.

Most likely the real reason for the excessive turnover is simply politics. Can you name for me any law enforcement agency that is under the intense amount of scrutiny that the BP is? They lead the league in indictments, prosecutions, and witch hunt investigations, after all. And speaking of politicians, here’s one of the more slimy ones…you can tell by the gelatinous ooze trailing behind her:

Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez, of California, said the attrition rate signals a need to slow hiring.

The solution is to give the (Border Patrol) chief a bit of breathing space to find the right recruits,” she said.

Translation? “We need time to get more of our voting bloc into the country”.

The Conundrum!

Posted by Jake

To our friends on the left illegal immigration presents quite the conundrum. On the one hand they have long presented themselves as the champions of the little guy, the working guy, but they have also made it quite clear that they are now citizens of the world so the question is, when your religion is “fairness”, who has the better claim?

I got thinking about this when reading this quote from the reliably left leaning Wikipedia about the recent raid at Howard Industries in Mississippi….

There has been a steady influx of Hispanic migrant labor in the last few years, most of them being employed at Howard Industries, Sanderson Farms and independent labor. Companies in the area tend to recruit foreign workers due to the benefits of the federal government subsidizing their cost for training of those on worker visas. Those on visas also tend to be paid substantially less

You can see the conundrum quite clearly I’d imagine, so who to support? American workers? That seems so, I don’t know, patriotic, xenophobic? Yet, by supporting non-citizens coming here they are overtly hurting American workers and shouldn’t that in principle be a bad thing?

Another argument from the left is that since almost no matter what, “immigrants” have it better here that gives them a higher claim to ‘fairness,’ but that logic only works so long as you think that non-citizens have a better claim to American jobs on American soil.

Not really going anywhere particular here, just marveling at the knots our friends on the left have tied themselves into here. Your thoughts?

The Wimpy Enforcement Plan!

Posted by Jake

I’ll gladly enforce the law Tuesday for no enforcement today!

So, the RNC was debating the issue of anchor babies and

The amendment was offered by Kendal Unruh of Colorado. “When I was sent here by the people, the number one issue on their minds was immigration,” she said. “They told me ‘You must represent our values on immigration.’” As for the fact that John McCain opposes the enactment of such a law, Unruh said, “Colorado is a swing state, and the number one issue that decides swing districts is illegal immigration… McCain needs to win Colorado, and this is a winning issue for McCain in Colorado.”

Now here comes Wimpy…

The first to speak in opposition to the amendment was Charles Mifsud of Ohio. Mifsud emphasized that he was no fan of McCain’s position on illegal immigration, but that “There are many other ways we can stop the problem of anchor babies. Anchor babies are a symptom.” He called for a general crackdown on illegal immigration and for securing the border. “If we want to be tougher on immigration in this document, let’s be tougher,” he said. But he defended the notion of citizenship as a birthright.

Note what he’s doing here, instead of focusing on smaller, more achievable goals he punts it off to an impossible goal. Or simpler: I stand for “securing the border” or “cracking down on illegal immigration” so long as we don’t ever do anything concrete that might, you know, actually crack down on illegal immigration.

Like I said, its the Wimpy enforcement plan, ‘I’ll gladly enforce the law Tuesday for no enforcement today!’

Here’s the irony to me, this issue will be the death of the Republican party, something they seem to welcome, know what? I welcome that as well. I think the Republican Party has done some fine things but frankly they appear to be out of gas these days and they appear to be quite comfortable being out of gas.

So it seems to me that at some point in the near future the Republicans are going to go the way of the Whigs, which in my opinion is something Conservatives should welcome, not fear.

Was it a bad thing when the Whig party morphed into the Republican Party? Then why do we assume that it would be a horrible thing if the Republican Party were replaced by, say, the Constitution Party? Or some other party that we haven’t even identified yet?

MCSO: Illegal Alien Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old

PHOENIX — A 24-year-old illegal immigrant has been arrested and booked into jail on child molestation and sexual abuse charges, sheriff’s deputies said. Jesus Martinez was nabbed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. The 12-year-old victim told her mother that Martinez took her next to a tractor and began kissing her on the mouth and neck, sheriff’s investigators said. Martinez gave the girl a hickey, deputies said. Martinez then asked the child to leave him hickeys for his ex-wife to see, investigators said.
